On November 7, China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China) held a centralized signing ceremony at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center. During the event, the company signed contracts valued at approximately $1.799 billion. Since the commencement of the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the value of contracts signed by Energy China with its partners has exceeded $3 billion. This represents a substantial year-on-year increase of 56.01%, marking a new record high for the company.
At the ceremony, China Energy International Group Co., Ltd., China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd., and China Energy Engineering Group Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. signed agreements with GE, Siemens Energy, and Nooter/Eriksen S.r.l to purchase equipment such as gas turbines, main engines, and waste heat boilers. He Jiansheng, General Legal Advisor and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Energy China, attended the ceremony. Wang Xinping, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd. (CPECC) and Party Secretary and Chairman of CEEC Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd., signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
The CIIE is the world's first national-level exposition dedicated to imports and an event personally planned, proposed, deployed, and promoted by Chinese President Xi Jinping. It has become a showcase of China's new development paradigm, a platform for high-standard opening up, and a public good for the whole world. Following the overall arrangement of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), Energy China, a company directly under the central government, is leveraging the big platform of CIIE to turn “the Chinese market into a world market, a shared market, and a market for all” and promote international exchanges and cooperation. With the seventh consecutive year of attendance in 2024, Energy China has become a steadfast participant of the CIIE. Over the past seven years, the value of contracts signed by Energy China has increased in successive years to nearly $9 billion.
The CIIE has grown in prominence, generating increasingly substantial spillover effects. Energy China and Siemens Energy have deepened their cooperation, which began with a strategic partnership agreement signed during the CIIE 2023. In June, the two companies joined forces to build the world’s largest modern and efficient gas-fired power station in Saudi Arabia. With a total installed capacity of nearly 4 gigawatts, the power plant is set to improve the local energy structure, which has been heavily dependent on oil. During the CIIE 2021, CEEC Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and Siemens Energy signed an agreement for the purchase of wind power equipment. More than 100 wind turbines acquired through this agreement have been successfully deployed to several wind power projects in Vietnam, including the Hung Hai Gia Lai 100MW Wind Power Plant, the Gia Lai 300MW Wind Power Plant, the Ningshun 117MW Wind Power Plant, the Xinshun 90MW Offshore Wind Power Project. The Gia Lai 300MW Wind Power Plant stands as Vietnam’s largest onshore wind power project, with an annual power generation of 900 million kilowatt hours.
Over 100 representatives from prestigious domestic and international enterprises, contracting firms, and media outlets were in attendance at the centralized signing ceremony.
