Research on Power Development in Overseas Countries, the first systematic research report on overseas country-specific power development in China's energy and power sector, was recently completed by China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd. (CPECC), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (Energy China), and officially published by China Electric Power Press. There are about 2.56 million characters in the nine-volume report, which is richly illustrated with high-quality texts and pictures. Consisting of an overview and a special report for 73 countries along the Belt and Road, it offers a thorough analysis of the current energy and power landscape, policies, and future development prospects in these countries and points out risks and challenges associated with power cooperation, thereby providing guidance for the international expansion of Chinese energy and power companies.
The cover of Research on Power Development in Overseas Countries
As a state-owned company engaged in energy and power development, CPECC has undertaken its incumbent mission, carried out the new energy security strategy known as “four revolutions and one cooperation”, advanced high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, performed the core function in overall planning of Energy China’s international business, and fully leveraged its forefront advantages in design and consultation. Guided by the Department of International Cooperation of the National Energy Administration and supported by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products and China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation, about 300 experts in system planning and international business and frontline overseas workers from 14 CPECC subsidiaries, with China Power Engineering Consulting Group International Engineering Co., Ltd. as the powerhouse, collaborated to compile the report. Luo Bixiong, Chief Scientist of Energy China, Party Secretary and Chairman of CPECC, and Dean of Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute, acted as the editor in chief.
The report is designed to disseminate analyses and research findings on overseas energy and power development, guide China's energy and power companies in their way to explore the overseas market, offer insights for the Chinese government in making decisions on energy cooperation with key countries, and contribute the wisdom of Energy China and the strength of CPECC to the international cooperation in production capacity, green-oriented transition of energy, and accelerated high-quality development.
Brief introduction to the report
Taking into account factors such as the global energy and power resource endowments, the rate of new energy development, and the foundation for cooperation with China, the report is based on the in-depth research for 73 countries along the Belt and Road, which deserve great attention from Chinese energy and power companies in their global expansion efforts.
The report, distinguished by its high-quality texts and pictures, spans approximately 2.56 million characters across two main sections: an overview and a special research report on power development in 73 countries. The overview consists of the global power development research and key findings from the power research in 73 countries. The global research examines development trends of global fossil energy generation, renewable energy generation, nuclear power, energy storage, hydrogen energy, and power grids; and the key findings outline the current state and future planning of power development, the environment and access policies of the power market, and suggestions for power market development in relevant countries.
The special research report on power development in 73 countries is divided into four volumes, each corresponding to a continent: Asia, Africa, Europe, America, and Oceania. The report maintains a uniform format for each country. There are six chapters in each report. The first chapter gives a full picture of relevant countries, covering the basic national situation, economic development, cooperation with China, the development of the energy sector. The second chapter analyzes the current state and future prospects of power development. It offers an in-depth analysis of the prospects and feasibility goals for new energy development in relevant countries based on their current state and planning for power development, coupled with their carbon emission reduction targets. The third character delves into power policies, with a focus on analyzing the regulatory framework and industry structure related to power, the composition of electricity prices and pricing mechanisms, restrictions on the access to the power sector, existing industry policies, electricity prices and trends, and the current state of the engineering contracting market. The fourth chapter outlines the cooperation between relevant countries with China. The fifth chapter analyzes the key cooperation areas and principal risks for Chinese energy and power companies. The sixth chapter gives advice and points out the positioning for Chinese power companies looking to expand into the overseas market.
